Initially the gate was not falling down, this was due to a lack of weight. I fixed this by adding laser-cut alumnim bars to the back of the gate. This allowed for the gate to fall down.
LEDs and the wizard
In order to make the wizard move and keep the LEDs on, I soldered the LEDs with a wire to make it longer. This allowed the wizard to move freely while still having the LEDs function.
mechanics
I first had a 2-gear system in parallel, however, the servor motor was not strong enough. I changed this to one gear and attached a string system, using tubes to guide the gears around. This allowed for smooth manuevering.
time of flight sensor
The sensor was able to detect when a person was within 250mm and turn the gear causing the gate to fall.
